Battery Life. Battery is always a downfall for GoPro cameras; like sensors, smaller batteries just can't cut it like bigger packs can. But the fact that the Hero is mostly featureless gives it a huge boost in battery life. We recorded 1080p at 30 fps for 3 hours straight on a single charge. That's much longer than your typical GoPro these days.

The 360 allows for up to 60fps in Hero mode, but the Hero Black offers up to 240 for super slo-mo. Recording bitrate is also slightly higher with the Hero 8 at 100Mbps vs. 78 on the 360. Both lenses protrude from the camera body, making them easily susceptible to scratching and damage.
An upgrade in the HERO7 is that the stabilization is offered all the way up to 4K 60 fps, so that is what we used for our tests. The best result was when the HERO7 was mounted in the GoPro Karma Grip gimbal. The impressive part, however, was that just using HyperSmooth stabilization was, in fact, almost as good.

The GoPro HERO8 Black and the DJI Osmo Action perform similarly overall. They're both incredibly portable, well-built, and waterproof. Each can shoot in 4k up to 60 fps and 1080p up to 240 fps. While the GoPro has a slightly better stabilization feature, it imposes a more severe crop.
It's also waterproof down to 33 feet. Its video stabilization feature is highly effective at reducing camera shake, allowing you to capture smooth action footage. It also has plenty of high frame rate options in 1080p and records 4k video up to 60 fps, allowing you to record fast action and slow motion.
On top of 8:7 video, the Hero 12 Black captures 5.3K resolution video at 60 fps, 4K resolution video at 120 fps, or 2.7K resolution at 240 fps. You can also grab 27MP stills from 5.3K video. For practical (if not quality) purposes you can connect Bluetooth headphones with mics, like Airpods, and record the audio – handy for describing the action!
